The headliner of this Street Beat Festival tour is Banda Bassotti, the most radical music force in Italy. Named after a cartoon charactor, Beagle Boys in Italian, of Disney animation movies,in particularly political sense, they are most anti-American band ever. Especially the present situation of war in Iraq gave them more energy than ever to fight back and some guys of Doberman was wondering "Why is Picio upset? He looks real pissed off, doesn't he?" The lead vocalist, Picio of Banda Bassotti, sings with full emotion and energy and, without understanding the words or the back ground of the band, that kind of reaction was not easily blamed, I think. But I believe all of the members of the band are well pissed off about the present situation relating the war in Iraq. But, at the same time, they do know that this is not anything special but a series of injustice ever lasting in history. Even if you do not understand their language, you could hear these names of countires, Palestine, Basque, Catalonia, Galicia..., where there are so many people still strugglling to live. |
